Why do so few nonprofits have solar?

It's not because they don't care about the environment or because they love high electric bills. It's because their limited funding goes directly into programs, so they don't have the extra to invest in panels.

On top of that, nonprofits don't have access to the same government subsidies that make solar affordable for many businesses and private individuals. These subsidies come in the form of tax credits and can cover 30% or more of the system cost, but only for organizations that have tax liability. No matter how much their cause might be helped by having solar, nonprofits can't easily access this subsidy.

We help expand solar access

ReChoice funds high impact solar projects through business and community collaboration - for example, projects that make a difference to disadvantaged minorities, projects that bring educational opportunities to troubled youth, or projects that give a helping hand to those in our communities who need a little support.

- Why? -

Because we're all in this together.

Climate change, natural disaster, war, poverty - the greatest challenges facing us today relate to energy. And these challenges disproportionately affect those who can least afford to deal with them. A sustainable economy requires clean energy; it also requires compassion.

It's time for a better way.

We believe more is possible. We believe a focused effort can bring visibility to our cause, inspire hope, and ignite change.

Our mission is to advance healthy and sustainable energy usage through empowered personal choice. Through our advocacy, thought leadership and community programs, we seek to educate the public about renewable energy and the importance of personal energy choices. We believe that given easy and affordable ways to obtain clean energy, more people will voluntarily adopt a sustainable lifestyle, helping preserve the earth for future generations.
